This rigorous program is recognized during the college admissions process, offers interesting class choices, and students can sometimes use their AP® test scores to earn college credit, depending on the policies of their institute of higher education.

AP® exams are offered each year in May. These exams are designed to test the mastery of the coursework. Students earn a score from 1 to 5. Depending on the score earned, classes may be eligible for college credit. Generally, a 3 is considered a passing score, and most colleges accept a score of 4 or 5 for credit.
Students may prepare for their AP® exams by utilizing an AP® Exam Review. This review is offered to AP® online students for most courses at no additional charge. It uses a diagnostic tool that pushes students rapidly through the material. It helps show students where they need to improve so they can focus their studies. Supplemental exam preparation is also available in their instructor’s AP® Classroom in College Board.
Students who crave a more challenging educational path find significant benefits in the AP® courses online offered at K12 Private Academy. Students:
-
Experience a new challenge that engages the mind and inspires critical thinking
-
Access unique courses that add interest and intrigue
- Potentially earn college credit
The Advanced Placement® International Diploma
K12 Private Academy students studying outside of the United States have the option of working toward the Advanced Placement® International Diploma (APID). This globally recognized certificate is also available for U.S. high school students who are applying to universities in other countries.
Students don’t have to apply for this certificate. It’s automatically awarded once a student has met the necessary requirements. Students receive an email from the College Board when they’ve earned their APID.
To be eligible for an APID, students must:
- Score a 3 or higher on 5+ AP® exams (if a student takes an exam multiple times, the highest score is used)
- Attend a school outside the U.S. or U.S. territories or send AP® scores to a university outside of the U.S.
- Fulfill 4 content areas: 2 eligible world language or English exams, 1 exam offering a global perspective, 1 exam in the sciences or mathematics, 1 additional exam
