Finding a Future in Technology with K12 Private Academy 

When Aidan first enrolled at K12 Private Academy in 2020, it was because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many families, online learning was the right solution during an uncertain time. But what started as a temporary decision quickly became something much more. 

As the years went on, Aidan discovered opportunities that helped shape his future. One of the biggest reasons he chose to stay at K12 Private Academy was the wide variety of electives, especially those focused on technology and programming. 

“I decided to stay because of all of the fun and interesting electives that the school provides,” Aidan shared. 

Among his favorites have been Java Programming and Game Design, courses that allowed him to build technical skills while exploring subjects he genuinely enjoys. Those experiences helped turn an interest in technology into a clear career path. 

One project stands out above the rest. 

During his externship, Aidan was challenged to create a virtual field trip project. Unlike classroom assignments completed in a structured environment, this required him to solve real programming problems on his own. 

“It was a sizable technical challenge and my first time programming outside of a closed environment,” he explained. 

Completing the project gave him confidence in his abilities and showed him how much he had grown throughout his time at K12 Private Academy. 

Looking ahead, Aidan has ambitious goals. He plans to pursue a career in cybersecurity while continuing to make time for two passions outside of work: rock climbing and game development. His experience at K12 Private Academy has helped prepare him for that future by giving him a strong programming foundation, access to industry-recognized certifications, and valuable real-world learning through his externship. 

When asked what advice he would give to other students, his answer was simple but powerful: 

Create a plan and commit to it. 

He believes having a clear plan made a tremendous difference, not only in managing schoolwork but also in achieving personal goals. It’s a lesson he wishes he had learned even sooner.
