When Morgan McLane’s family reflects on her educational journey, they do not simply talk about classes or assignments. At just seven years old, Morgan was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, a life-changing moment for both her and her family. Her hard work and dedication eventually led her to Goldey-Beacom College, where she competed as a Division II softball player. What followed was an extraordinary collegiate career marked by both athletic and academic achievement.

During her time at Goldey-Beacom College, Morgan became one of the program’s most accomplished athletes. Over the course of her four-year collegiate softball career, she broke three school records, becoming the all-time leader in wins, saves, and strikeouts. Her success on the field reflected years of discipline, perseverance, and determination.

But Morgan’s accomplishments extended far beyond athletics.

While excelling as a collegiate athlete, she also maintained exceptional academic performance and earned the highest GPA on her softball team during her senior year. Balancing athletics, academics, and personal responsibilities is no small feat, yet Morgan consistently demonstrated the work ethic and focus necessary to succeed in every area of her life.

Her family credits much of that preparation to the foundation she built during her years with K12 Private Academy.

“I went into college already knowing how to study, take notes, and manage my time,” Morgan shared. “K12 helped prepare me for the independence and responsibility that college requires.”

Today, Morgan continues building on the success she achieved both academically and athletically. She currently works full-time as an Assistant Office Manager for a construction plumbing company while also giving back to the sport that shaped so much of her journey.
In addition to her professional career, Morgan serves as an assistant softball coach at the college level, mentoring and encouraging student-athletes who are now following similar paths of their own.

Her story is a powerful reminder that success does not always follow a traditional path. Every student’s journey looks different, and sometimes flexibility can make all the difference in helping students reach their full potential.
